Kaantheri Jumaadi
In athe chavadi of Bollollimaaruguthu, Kaantheri Jumaadi and Banta was settled as a prime powerful Daiwa. These have become chavadi Daiwa’s, Daily evening once the lamp was lit for Daiwa there was an instrument played made of lather called “thambada” tied to Bodige Pillar which is in the Opposite Chavadi. The main entrance of this chavadi was facing towards east direction. Family member who has got the respect of Head of the family (Gadipathinar – Called as Mader) is allowed to enter inside Daiwa Gunda, for lighting the lamp, so selected person in the family will be chosen for this position.
On the “Daiwa Mancha”, we can see ancient Jumaadi’s big face mask as well as right hand side of the mask there is another mask of Banta(in the form of pig). There are 2 kadsale(sword) is present. The wider one belongs to Jumaadi Daiwa which is left side of Jumaadi mask, another kadsale which is less wide, belongs to Banta and is placed in front of his mask. There will be 2 small metal vessel for water called Kuchi is kept in front of each Daiwa Mask. On the Daiwa Mancha there are few statues made of bronze - 2 pigs, 2 male buffaloes, 4 oxen, peacock, 1 elephant, statue of Daiwa sitting on horse, bird and Human statue holding a sword in hand, 1 bronze coconut is also hanged top of Daiwa Mancha. As the lord is said to be pure vegetarian, no chicken was supposed to be cut or offered. Until the year 1999, this Gunda had a wall, made out of mud. Earlier, to lit the lamp, the oil was made from honnekaayi(Ponneda kaayi).
In the past, Mader (Head of the family) used to keep water & oil on daily basis, on the day of sankramana, flower, water. During Ganesh Chaturthi (Chauthi) festival Jumadi used get Chauthi Parba. On the day of Koralu Parba (Thene habba- Head of the family first offer his 'Namaskaram' to the crop and to the field and cut the first 'Thene') Tene will be tied to Daiwa Mancha with prayers. During Diwali - Parba for Jumadi was done. In the family, during auspicious time & family’s good & bad times, human-chajjeyi (homa pancha kajjaaya) was offered.
In our house during marriages, engagement, seemantha(baby shower) as such auspicious occasion, it was a tradition to lit the lamp in the chavadi & offer flowers & worship Daiwa and also the family members who were supposed to travel outer states/countries on new business had to follow the same tradition. In the family, during suthaka (born/dead) after passing suthaka days, pure homa is kept for jumaadi. Till the year 2000, any member from this family, who has passed away, the dead body was kept in chavadi of jumaadi’s gunda. Later, it was stopped when it was found to be questioned during ashtamangala. All the auspicious functions were performed in this chavadi only. From the past, whatever was spoken in this Chavadi was happening true. Any member from this family who were in difficulty & approached jumaadi, their difficulties were gone & their tears were wiped off, such a power existed. Jumadi used to get satisfaction and the family was progressed when offered annaprasadam or donations for the needy.
If anybody in the house-Chavadi, quarrels, curses, Jumaadi Daiwa would get disappointed. “Jumadi olidare Lakshmi munidare Mahankali” for our family. So if our family members help each other, spoke well, lived intimately & happily by not forgetting to worship family Daiwas, there will be blessings for the family. For the sick people, the only medicine for the family from jumaadi was sandal prasadam. Daily inside gunda, lamp is lit to Daiwa & except during Aaati month as entering “Gunda” to lighting the lamp is prohibited.
For this Daiwa, on these occasions, during chauthi, diwali and homanau-chajjeyi (Homanchajjaya) single word
